Arthritis At Home Episode 139 – Development of “on-demand” model of care for rheumatoid arthritis

In this episode of Arthritis at Home, Dr. Claire Barber has a discussion with ACE Programs Coordinator Ellen Wang about her recently funded project ‘Development and pilot of a shared-care model for rheumatoid arthritis leveraging an “on-demand” follow-up strategy’.  Dr. Barber shares how the project was co-developed with patient partners and stakeholders with the aim of providing patients with care when they need it without waiting for the next appointment.

Dr. Claire Barber is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Community Health Sciences and the Departments of Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. She is also a Research Scientist at Arthritis Research Canada. Dr. Barber’s work to date has focused on measuring the quality of care provided to patients living with inflammatory arthritis, so that if there are gaps in processes of care, they can be readily identified and addressed.
